Sulfur/Ammonia Thermal ReactorSulfur and ammonia are byproducts of the coke making process. Process gasses are passed through a thermal reactor to extract these chemicals prior to incineration and release to the atmosphere, or prior to subsequent distribution for use as a fuel.
A traditional thermocouple can not survive the high temperatures and the corrosive atmosphere associated with this demanding environment. Instead, an infrared thermometer is used to measure process temperatures. The chemical reaction is more efficient at higher a higher process temperature; however, too high a temperature will cause the refractory to degrade.
The fiber optic Williamson sensor replaces troublesome thermocouples, and is specially designed to view through process gasses and monitor refractory temperature directly, thereby assuring that the process may be run under optimum conditions.
